At YMCA Swim Schools in Auckland there’s no wrong age to learn to swim, we cater to all ages and abilities, and our facilities are perfectly equipped for participants to get the most from the learning opportunities that our highly trained instructors provide.
Babies and toddlers can take part in lessons accompanied by a parent or guardian and school-age kids can get splashing in classes with low student to teacher ratios. Adults can develop their skills and fitness in dedicated learn to swim and squad classes. We also offer personal swimming instructors that can provide special one-on-one tuition, whether it’s to get on top of a particular stroke or training for a big event.
With dedicated heated pools providing a comfortable learning environment year-round, our YMCA swim school programmes are here to help give you the introduction you’ve always needed – or the next step in your swimming skill development.
For baby swim lessons, the learning experience is just as important for the parent as the child. While your baby develops motor skills, independence and water confidence, you’ll learn important water safety concepts to help your child become safer in and around water.
Toddlers and preschoolers are adventurous, learning and discovering new things every day. Building on water confidence Preschool Swimming Lessons introduce structured progressions with a strong emphasis on swimming skills and water safety.
Whatever your child’s experience with swimming, YMCA Auckland’s school age classes are ability based and cater to all levels of experience. Classes are based on structured progressions with a strong emphasis on skill execution and water safety.
Whether you want to develop some skills to stay safe around water, or you learned the basics a long time ago but feel that you need a refresher, adult swimming lessons can help you gain the confidence you need in the water.
Classes for adults and teenagers (16 and over) and skill based training squads. Sessions focus on both technique and fitness, providing structured progressions, while increasing endurance in all strokes.
We pride ourselves on providing an equal opportunity for a diverse range of people to participate in aquatic activities, regardless of their disability, age, culture or background.
