As a not for profit organisation YMCA reinvests any operating surpluses directly back into local communities in Auckland and in the Waikato.
Our two main focusses are youth development and strengthening families. We do this through a variety of initiatives, but Family Camp, Raise Up and Fee Assistance are the three key philanthropic programmes.
Our programmes could do more with your support!
It is our aim that no person willing, but unable, to pay will be denied access to YMCA Auckland programmes or services. YMCA Auckland is committed to ensuring opportunities for all.
We believe that participation in any of our programmes and services should not be restricted to the financially privileged. Through Fee Assistance, we will make healthy lifestyles accessible to all people.
Fee Assistance is available across all of our programme areas, for individuals, families, or groups. It can be used to provide free access to programmes and membership, or can provide partial subsidy dependent on the individual’s ability to pay.
Family Camp is a unique programme based on hosting families for a weekend of cabin based camping, the intent is to provide families with an opportunity to get away from the pressures of daily life; to step outside of their normal environments and spend time together connecting as a family unit.
Increasingly families face challenges and distractions in their daily lives that become barriers to quality time together. The intent of Family Camp is to create that time, making opportunities to connect and strengthen bonds as a family unit. Family Camp aims to deliver experiences that families may not often get an opportunity to participate in such as a flying fox, camp fire or a glow worm walk.
YMCA fully funds the cost of participation for all attendees.
The aim of Raise Up, YMCA Auckland’s youth development programme, is to empower young people by providing a safe and healthy environment in which to thrive and achieve their goals and socialise.
Raise Up, has celebrated another successful year of creating opportunities for young people and supporting them to make a positive change in their communities. The programme, now in its 14th year, has grown to over 200 crew members across 11 locations. With YMCA’s support these young people have hosted 39 events, bringing in a recorded 16,944 visits to local recreation spaces.
Raise Up fosters a sense of pride and respect for our youths and the communities in which they live in, through personal ownership and leadership development.
