Young people from YMCA’s youth development programme – Raise Up – are showing the power of teenagers during national Youth Week, 19-27 May, with a series of events for youth and by youth across Auckland.

Youth Week is a national celebration of the talent, passion and success of young people, and Raise Up crews will be staging a number of youth events in their local communities.

The Raise Up events include a mixture of fun quiz nights, sports, music and cultural events designed to encourage young people to take on new challenges, share ideas, connect with community and be inspired by their peers. All of the events have been organised by 13 – 18-year-old Raise Up crew members.

Raise Up coordinator Adam Brown-Rigg says it’s great to see the range of events on offer for young people to celebrate national Youth Week.

“Our Raise Up crews have really stepped up to organise a number of events for their peers that really celebrate the vibrancy and talent of New Zealand’s young people."

Raise Up events will be occurring across central, west and south Auckland.
