Mt Albert Community and Leisure Centre managed by YMCA has taken home the top honour at the 2017 Albert-Eden Business Awards.

Now in their second year, the awards celebrate and acknowledge quality, professionalism and excellence for businesses in the Albert-Eden Local Board area.

At the Tuesday night awards ceremony Mt Albert Community and Leisure Centre took home the top Supreme Award honour amongst a pool of 365 nominations and 58 finalists across six award categories.  Earlier in the evening the YMCA managed centre was announced the winner of the ‘Business and Professional Services’ category out of a high calibre of nine finalists including accountancy, travel and real estate businesses.

Mt Albert Community and Leisure Centre manager Jill Gibson said both awards acknowledge the hard work and dedication of a team of over 50 employees, plus the 1200 members and many more loyal customers who make the Mt Albert Community and Leisure Centre an integral part of their local community.

“It’s an honour for our team of exercise, recreation and community engagement professionals to provide a range of programmes and services that meet the needs of our Albert-Eden community.”

The Auckland Council owned Mt Albert Community and Leisure Centre has been managed by the YMCA for over 20 years. The centre attracts over 300,000 annual visits from people accessing a range of services including fitness and recreation, targeted health programmes for diabetics and seniors, kids’ programmes and the Raise Up youth programme, and provides space for over 40 local community groups.
