Jumpstart is a 10-week exercise and lifestyle programme developed by the YMCA for people living with diabetes.
Jumpstart aims to improve the health & wellbeing of people with Diabetes. Each week participants will attend educational sessions which covers a range of topics from understanding diabetes, what to look out for and the importance of exercise in managing your diabetes.
There will also be nutritional advice run by the program leader from meal planning to reading food labels. Participants will have access to local health providers for additional support.
The programme contains fun & friendly supervised training sessions between 40 – 60 minutes long. These will vary depending on the participant’s fitness level. All sessions are fully supervised by a YMCA Fitness Trainer. Participants will be given the opportunity to exercise outside of the regular sessions, encouraged to include family members and set their own goals.
For many people, the effects of diabetes can be managed by following a healthy lifestyle. The friendly and supportive team at Hamilton will help you to achieve that lifestyle.

Education sessions are delivered in a group setting every Monday night at 5.30pm. Emily delivers education around nutrition, label reading, diabetes, health and well-being.
