16 November

The following YMCA Out of School care centres will be opening from tomorrow (17 November):

  • Bankwood School (After School Care)
  • Forest Lake School (Before & After School Care)
  • Hamilton West School (Before & After School Care)
  • Horsham Downs Primary School (Before & After School Care)
  • Hukanui School (Before & After School Care)
  • Melville Primary School (After School Care)
  • Silverdale Normal School (Before & After School Care)
  • Te Kowhai School (Before & After School Care)
  • Woodstock Primary School (After School Care)

Tauranga and Rotorua school programmes are continuing to operate, no changes.

15 November

Today the government announced that parts of Waikato, including Hamilton, will move into Alert Level 2 at 11.59pm on Tuesday 16 November. This means that YMCA Hamilton Recreation Centre will be able to re-open under Alert Level 2 protocols from Wednesday 17 November.

We will be in touch on Tuesday 16 November with further opening details, timetables and membership payment information.

Out-of-school care programme opening will depend on each school - we will confirm with parents as soon as we know where we are able to operate our programmes.

4 October

Hamilton Early Learning Centre is still open, operating under strict Alert Level 3 protocols. Please contact the centre directly for further details.

3 October

YMCA Hamilton Recreation Centre will be closing tonight until further notice due to the announcement of Alert Level 3 from 11.59pm tonight.

Holiday programmes are also impacted. These sites will not be running until further notice

7 September

YMCA Hamilton will re-open on September 8. Out of school care programmes will restart along with schools on September 9. YMCA Tauranga classes will restart from Monday September 13.

Payment information below:


  • Weekly payments start as normal from 9 September
  • Paid in full will have the time added to their membership
  • Monthly memberships will have 11 days added to their next monthly advance payment, which will be on 20 September

Out of school care:

  • Credits are in place for sessions paid for but missed while we were closed
  • All future bookings are will be charged as normal. If your needs have changed, you need to contact the YMCA team otherwise you will be charged

Children's gymnastics:

  • We are holding credit for the classes you missed for Term 4. Credits must be used in Term 4.

1 September

Hamilton Early Centre is now open, operating under Alert Level 3 protocols. For more details please contact the centre directly via phone or email.

Please see the information below about your programme fees while we are closed:

  • Fitness: your payments are currently on hold. For paid in full memberships, we will extend the end date of your membership for the period we are unable to open.
  • Swim school: Lessons will be made up when we re-open. For customers who pay their fees in instalments, these payments will continue as normal
  • Children's term programmes: Lessons will be made up when we re-open
  • Out of school care: Credit for any sessions paid for will be used when we re-open
  • Early learning centres: No fee payments will be taken while we are closed. Credit for any sessions paid for will be used when we re-open
  • For sports leagues or venue hire: please contact your YMCA centre

Please note - planned make-up sessions may need to be revisited in the event of an extended lockdown - we will be in touch in this case.

Under COVID Level 4, all YMCA centres are closed. We'll be in touch with further details on how you and your family can stay active and healthy under lockdown - stay tuned!


5 October

Auckland Early Learning Centres will be opening to take additional children from October 6 2021. Centres will be operating under strict operating protocols, including keeping to bubble sizes of 10 children. For more details please visit our protocols page.
