2. May I use more than one Y-Fitness Club?
Yes, our Y-Fitness Club Card membership gives you the freedom to enjoy all Y-Fitness Clubs across Auckland and Hamilton. Click on Membership Options to get more information.
3. When are the clubs open?

5. What’s included in my membership?
There are many benefits of becoming a Y-Fitness member, the most important being that we care about your getting the results and support you need to help you achieve your goals. This means that we really take the time to look after you, and provide you with a full induction, consultation, programme and follow up appointments when you join, as well as a new programme every 6-8 weeks – all included in your membership! This is all part of our ‘Stick with it’ programme for new members, to get you started and keep you going. You also receive unlimited access to the fitness centres, group exercise classes, Zumba®, and members events and challenges, all making it fun and motivating for you!
6. Do I have to have a gym induction?
Y-Fitness offers a full gym induction for new members however if you are confident using the gym and have been a gym member in the past, and wish to ‘do your own thing’ then we are happy with that. Whatever works for you and is going to make your workouts enjoyable, however if you get stuck or need some extra motivation then we are happy to help!
7. How long do I have to join for and how soon can I start?
We offer a variety of membership options ranging from our ‘No Ties’ option which means you can have a flexible finish date as long as you give us 30 days notice, or you can receive the benefits of a discounted rate if you join for 12 months. It’s your choice.
Start now! We can normally start your membership that day or as soon as we can book you in for a consultation with one of our registered trainers, which is normally within the next day or two from joining.
8. How do I join and can I join online?
You can now also join online, making it really easy to get started, click here to go through to the link of online options Join Online Now. We will then contact you to make a time for your first consultation with a trainer to get you started.
9. Can I pay by direct debit and how often can I pay?
Yes we offer an affordable option through small regular payments on Direct debit. The DD membership enables you to pay whenever it suits you, whether that be weekly, fortnightly, or monthly to align with your pay schedule.
10. What do I have to wear?
Y-Fitness is all about feeling comfortable and somewhere where you can be yourself, so you don’t have to wear the latest fitness trends! All we ask is that you wear comfy workout clothing, use deodorant and bring a towel and a water bottle to keep yourself hydrated. You will also need appropriate workout shoes with closed toes for health and safety reasons.
11. When is the best time to work out?
This is all about what works best for you. Most people tend to work out first thing in the morning, lunchtime, or straight after work, however it’s important to do what fits best into your daily routine, so that it becomes a habit and you stick with it. These are the most popular times in the fitness centres, so if you would prefer a quieter time and you are able to do so, then try a mid morning or mid afternoon workout.
12. Can I invite friends as guests?
Yes, your guests are very welcome to visit the club; when you join you receive 3 one week guest passes and we often run referral incentives with some great prizes throughout the year. If you are a current member and do wish to invite more people along then contact one of our team at your local club through the Y-Fitness Enquiry
13. Can I purchase a membership as a gift?
A gift of health and fitness is a wonderful present for anyone, and this can be arranged easily through purchasing a gift voucher or setting up a membership in a person’s name ready for them to use. Just ask one of our team or email us through the Y-Fitness Enquiry
14. Can I put my membership on hold if I am sick?
Yes you can, you can suspend your membership for one month on production of a medical certificate, and your minimum term period will be extended by this period. If you have a longer term illness, then please let us know and we will be happy to review this for you.
15. What group exercise classes do you have and do you offer Zumba®?
The Y-Fitness group exercise programme is unique in that our classes our not pre-choreographed and therefore the flair and passion of each individual instructor shines through. Our classes cater for all levels and include low impact classes, high energising workouts, strength training, toning and fat burning to name but a few. In addition we have recently added Zumba® classes to our repertoire
16. Can I get a Personal Trainer, and how much does it cost?
Having a personal trainer is a great way to get the best out of your workouts, getting better results faster, and is good if you want support and advice whilst working out, and motivation on a regular basis to get there. PT gives one-on-one support when you need it, and is great value to get a high level of professional advice to keep you on track.
17. Do you have childcare facilities?
Many of the YMCA centres have childcare, including Early Childhood Education (ECE) licensed pre-school care (ECE), as well as Holiday programmes and after-school care for the older age groups. Click here for more information Childcare
18. Can I transfer my membership to another club or person if I re-locate?
Yes, we encourage you to do so, your membership can be transferred to any Y-Fitness Club in Auckland or Hamilton, and if you move out of Auckland or Hamilton completely then to over 100 clubs nationwide. All you will need to pay is a small transfer fee to cover the administration costs of your move. You can also transfer the remainder of your membership to someone else, again for a small administration fee.
19. Do you offer a high school or student membership?
Y-Fitness offers both! As a youth member and a tertiary student you are entitled to a discounted membership at all of our facilities, you just need to show your ID. For more information contact your local centre Y-Fitness Enquiry
20. Do you offer corporate membership?
