Woodhill Forest Equestrian Park (WFEP) boasts an exclusive forest area for horses only and non-exclusive zones where other activities may take place but riding is allowed. Woodhill Forest is quite possibly the closest experience to a wilderness that we will find so close to Auckland, you will often see deer and the beautiful kereru (wood pigeon) hovering amongst the trees. And whilst you are out riding be secure in the knowledge your vehicle is in a locked parking area, when you return you can wash your horse down in the hose down area.
Many horses enjoy a roll in the readymade sand pit underneath the trees - pure indulgence for horses!
Woodhill forest is a working forest, and the WFEP is under license to Hancock Timber Resource Group who harvests the pine plantation. For your safety, riding is only permitted in the forest if you are a registered rider or business.
Aside from the trail riding, Auckland Woodhill Endurance Club (AWEC) holds endurance and organised rides in the forest, this is a fabulous opportunity to ride some new trails, assess your horse’s fitness, prepare for other equestrian activities or introduce your horse to others! We will keep you notified of any events in the forest and if you don’t want to join in, let you know which trails to avoid.
