Water Safety Visits in Onehunga

Educating our communities to be safer in and around the water

According to Water Safety New Zealand, drowning is the third highest cause of unintentional death in our country and we have one of the worst preschool drowning rates in the world. The Y (formerly known as YMCA) Swim School's are passionate about making a difference in helping reduce this staggering statistic.

The Y's Water Safety Team members and our friendly mascot, Wai the Whale head out into local communities educating children about being safe around water. Our main focus is to teach children not to swim with out adult supervision, we do this through stories and songs.

Our Water Safety visits are free to any Preschools, Early Learning Centres, Schools, Plunkets, community groups or organisations.
