Talent Identification Programme
Each year the YMCA invites approx 10 of our up and coming Department Managers/Supervisors to attend our Talent Identification Programme (TIP). The purpose of TIP is to identify talent in our organisation so we can more specifically nurture them towards higher positions of responsibility such as Centre Manager positions, or programme support roles within Head Office.
Continuing Education And Study Assistance
Special assistance provisions are available for employees who wish to improve their qualifications by attending a course at University, a Technical Institute or other recognised educational institution.

Skills Active
Skills Active is the Industry Training Organisation responsible for the Sport, Fitness, Community Recreation, Snowsport, Outdoor Recreation and Nga Mahi a te Rehia sectors. |

|
Skills Active's role within these sectors is to:
- Set skill standards and qualifications
- Arrange for the delivery of workplace learning and training
- Provide industry leadership by identifying skill needs, developing strategic training plans, and promoting learning that meets industry needs
Skills Active work with the YMCA to develop arrangements for education and training that fit our needs. Unlike other degrees, diplomas and certificates, these industry qualifications are proof that you can apply your knowledge and experience in real, on-the-job situations – that’s because they have been developed specifically for the sport, fitness and recreation industries.
The programme will give you the chance to gain nationally recognised qualifications while you are at work. You will be able to get credit for the skills and knowledge you already have, as well as the new skills you’re learning on the job.
What’s more, the awards and certificates you will gain count towards qualifications on the National Qualifications Framework – just what you need to get ahead in your career
