Raise up Events

Raise up Events YMCA’s have a Raise up Crew that meet weekly. They organise a range of events through out the year for teenagers in their community. These range from dance parties, to performance, community, artistic and sporty events. The idea is to give teenagers fun activities and events to socialise, as well as give them the chance to showcase their talent.

Walk the Line

Walk the Line is New Zealand’s biggest young designers fashion show. If you are a young designer wanting to show off your design skills to the world, then there is no better stage than New Zealand Fashion Week. Walk the Line is organised by the YMCA. Young designers can enter one garment into the show to try and take home the title of “NZ Fashion Weeks Young Designer of the Year”. There are many great prizes up for grabs as well as media opportunities for the winners.

Volume

If you are a young aspiring musician/singer, then Volume is a massive opportunity not to be missed. Volume is a 13 week mentoring programme where 12 selected students learn how to build upon their song writing, collaborating and music production skills. At the end of the process an album is recorded and performed live at an album release party. Volume is for high school aged students (13-18).

V-Dance

If you are a young dancer or want to be involved in dance, then this is a huge opportunity for you. V-dance is an 18 week dance programme designed to teach dancers about choreography and modern dance styles. At the end of the process, the group of dancers will have created an hour long dance show to be performed as a part of the national dance festival – Tempo. V-dance is for high school ages students (13-18).

Artistry

Artistry is an art exhibition where young designers can display and sell their art works. All forms of art is accepted (painting, mixed media, sculpture, photography etc). Artists can display as much art as they wish, they will however need to send in an image of an example of their art before the day. Artistry is open to for all teenage artists.
